Royal baby receives Kiwi sleep wrap - PRESS RELEASE

Safe-T-Sleep made it in to the media again this month for their beautiful gift to the baby princess.

The newest member of the royal family is to receive a snuggly little gift made with Kiwi ingenuity.
Two-month-old Princess Charlotte will soon receive her own personalised sleep wrap created by South Auckland resident Miriam Rutherford-van Gisbergen.
The entrepreneur designed the Safe T Sleepwrap more than 20 years ago to prevent falls and injuries from cots.

She got the chance to send a wrap to Prince George two years ago after getting royal contacts from her local MPs office.
It was soon followed with a very important phone call thanking her for the present.
"We know that it got there... I've spoken to the private secretary for Kate and William. We got a phone call from Buckingham Palace to say they had received it.

"Based on that, and because Kate's so sensible and a great mother, I think she probably would be using it."
The thought of future kings and queens getting a good night's sleep with her product feels special, she says.
"But I think all babies are kings and queens... my passion, motivation and drive has always come from a really high regard for babies."
Rutherford-van Gisbergen came up with the idea for the safety wrap while working as a nurse. She was shocked to see so many babies with broken bones and injuries from falling out of cots.

So she invented the two-piece baby wrap which fits around the mattress and the baby while still allowing for comfortable movement.
Princess Charlotte's wrap is embroidered with a gold royal crown and a silver fern, just as her big brother Prince George's was.
Ellen Cowley was tasked with sewing the royal item together and says "it's quite exciting" knowing who will be using it.
But she's made "hundreds and hundreds over the years", each with the same care, she says.
Apart from a bit of gold stitching and embroidery  "it's just the same".

" I went ahead and made it like I always do."
The wrap has been specially packaged in a gold box with a pink ribbon and was sent to Buckingham Palace last week.
