THE ONLY INDEPENDENTALLY HOSPITAL CLINICALLY PROVEN* SLEEPWRAP BABYWRAP Since 1992.
This is a Sleepwrap babywrap designed to be used with loving, nurturing, trust-building parenting skills.
Choose your Sleepwrap size according to the babies bed size you are using.
Safer, more comfortable and restful sleep for babies newborn to 2years old.
NB: IT IS IMPORTANT TO CAREFULLY FOLLOW THE VERY SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS.
1. Wrap the Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap babywrap very tightly around a good quality mattress but NEVER tightly around baby…just snug around baby’s torso; right up underneath armpits, allowing a flat hand between baby and wrap.
The tighter that the main wrap is around a good quality mattress, the more flexibility there will be for baby in the 'baby wrap' part and the better the Sleepwrap will work.
It is helpful to tighten this main mattress wrap part before each sleep.
NB: FOR AN OLDER BABY OUT OF THE HIGH RISK PERIOD; CONSIDERED TO BE BETWEEN 6-9 MONTHS, WHO CAN TURN FROM TUMMY AND BACK AGAIN: LOOSEN THE SLEEPWRAP A LITTLE MORE AND USING YOUR HANDS GENTLY TEACH BABY TO ROLL WITHIN THE WRAP. AN OLDER BABY MAY SLEEP IN THEIR DESIRED SLEEP POSITIONS.
NB: The little Mini Sleepwrap babywrap does not have the leg piece or Houdini strip and is suitable for newborn-6months old only. https://www.safetsleep.com/collections/sleepwrap-baby-wraps/products/sleepwrap-baby-wrap-mini?variant=12603048984599
The Sleepwrap may also be used on its own over just a nappy in very hot climates.
Simply place the 'baby wrap' part of the Sleepwrap over any ‘arms up’ swaddling wrap, baby sleeping bag or whatever sleepwear baby is wearing to bed.
2a. BABY SLEEPING ON BACK
A: Back sleeping baby is the ‘official’ recommendation for safest baby sleep position. However, babies often wriggle, creep and roll at quite a young stage, so this can be difficult to achieve. To help ensure the back sleeping position comfortably, wrap one side of the 'baby wrap' part around the baby's torso right up underneath the armpits.
The Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap babywrap simply goes over whatever baby wears to bed.
B: Bring up the leg piece (middle part of baby swaddle). When not wanting to use the leg piece simply tuck it underneath the main wrap.
C: Close the second 'baby wrap' part. The Large, Classic and Cot/Crib Sleepwraps all have a leg piece and a Houdini strip for extra closure protection for clever, older babies.
* Most young infant’s, newborn and older, sleep more restfully when swaddled/wrapped.
* If you choose to wrap/swaddle your newborn ensure it is done correctly and safely using natural, breathable fabrics with no loose ends and with baby’s arms up gently across the chest. The Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap helps keep traditional and modern swaddling wraps in place and it simply goes over whatever baby wears to bed.
* It is best to use soft, breathable swaddling fabrics e.g. soft muslin or soft brushed cotton with a little ‘give’.
See ‘Baby Wisdom’ book which is widely consulted and has loads of practical, common sense, evidence-based tips, generic information and helpful images on the 1, 2, 3 of swaddling your newborn baby. The book also covers baby sleep TIPS for babies newborn-2years old. https://www.safetsleep.com/products/baby-wisdom-book
For newborn swaddling, we and the following official sites recommend ‘arms up’ swaddling. The Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap simply goes over whatever baby wears to bed.
Gentle arms up swaddling helps prevent baby turning face down and also opens up baby’s rib cage for easier breathing.
2b. BABY SLEEPING ON SIDE
Babies sleeping on side is a very common occurrence. Babies often roll onto their side during sleep. If you choose to side sleep baby do it safely, ensure baby's arm and shoulder are gently placed forward on the side they are sleeping on. This, plus a Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap over whatever baby wears to bed, helps ensure that a newborn baby, until out of the high Cot Death/SIDS risk period, does not turn face down during sleep. Many parents prefer to keep baby off the tummy for 7-12months.
Remember to turn a newborn to approximately 6months old baby on alternate sides at each sleep, sometimes on the back to ensure a nice head shape.
The younger the baby, the softer the head. See FAQ’s#21-23.
2c. Baby SLEEPING ON TUMMY
NB: babies sleeping on tummy tend to be more mobile. This can pose extra risk.
Baby sleeping on tummy while in the high Cot Death/SIDS risk period (considered to be newborn-6months of age) is not recommended.
If you do choose to do this or are advised to do this by a medical professional, then it is very important to use a Sleepwrap to help prevent creeping into dangerous, potentially suffocating positions. https://www.safetsleep.com/pages/suffocation-cot-death
3. HEADwedge to help prevent Flat Heads
Remember: The younger the baby, the softer the head.
The little Safe T Sleep HEADwedge - suitable for newborn to approximately 6months old. It is used together with and underneath the mattress wrap part of the Sleepwrap this helps to ensure a lovely head shape for baby and normal brain development.
Remember to turn your baby's head to alternate sides at each sleep.
The little Safe T Sleep HEADwedge helps parents to stabilize the head position on alternate sides and also reminds parents which side they last turned baby’s head to.
Simply slide the HEADwedge WELL underneath the mattress wrap part of the Sleepwrap beside baby's head and underneath the shoulder as in the images.

Ministry of Health Advice for safer sleeping: The Ministry of Health recommends all babies are put to sleep in their own sleep space, on their backs and with no loose objects like toys or bumper pads in the bed. Babies are best protected by being a smoke-free environment and being breast fed.
