As you read this babies worldwide are being fitted with un-natural helmets to correct Flat Head. Worldwide statistics show that up to 30% of babies ‘heads’ never return to an acceptable or attractive shape. This is a significant statistic! For thousands of years it has been well known that the younger the baby, the softer the head. So start from when baby is very young. Prevention of Flat Head is definitely kinder than cure!
THIS OR THIS
As back sleeping is currently recommended for babies, it is important to know that you need to alternate the baby’s head position at each sleep. However, not all babies keep their head on the side you turn it to and approximately 30% can prefer one particular spot. This even despite turning the cot/crib or having a bright toy on alternate sides.
When babies insist on sleeping on a particular spot the Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap and HEADwedge combo will gently encourage the baby's head to stay on alternate sides and help prevent a flat spot from developing. Mothers tell us that the HEADwedge also helps to remind them which side their baby's head was turned to last.
When back sleeping the little Safe T Sleep HEADwedge is placed on a slight angle behind the back of the baby's head and underneath the shoulder. In order to anchor the HEADwedge, tuck it substantially underneath the main wrap that goes around the mattress. It is unwise to have loose items or toys in the cot. When baby is side sleeping some, parents who use the Sleepwrap also choose to tuck the HEADwedge into baby’s back where it cannot be reached.
The HEADwedge must be used with a Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap.
