Transition

30 April 1992

Dear Miriam,

I have found the Safe T Sleep to be very effective in teaching my son “Robert” to get to sleep and sleep well.  When I first started using the Safe T Sleep Robert was at the stage of pulling himself up in his cot, the minute I put him down then yelling and working himself up so sleep wasn’t possible.  The Safe T Sleep enabled me to keep Robert lying down in his cot so I could then proceed to teach him good sleeping habits.

As an added benefit the use of the Safe T Sleep keeps Robert in a correct position in his cot through the night so he doesn’t wake himself up being jammed in a top corner of the cot.

I do not use the side of the cot (i.e. I leave it down) when using the Safe T Sleep this makes it much easier for tucking in.

I’m sure that when Robert is ready to make the move to a bed, that the Safe T Sleep will make the transition safe and hassle free.

As I haven’t seen anything like your Safe T Sleep on the market I’m sure you will do well with your venture and be the answer to many harassed mothers prayers.

All the Best

To Safe.T.Sleep,

I am writing in reguard to a product I brought just yesterday (Safe-T-Sleep) to see if I could get a good nights sleep. For about a month now my 15mth old son has been waking 3-4 times through the night making myself & him tired and grumpy through the day. I had him checked at the doctors several times just to be sure he wasn’t ill etc, then I saw an advertisement at plunket for your Safe-T-Sleep. I ordered one through my local chemist and thanx to this simple yet amazing idea I got my first nights sleep in ages. To many people including myself at first it seems like a lot of money to pay but believe me it’s a small price to pay for a happier family all round,

thank you
Safe-T-Sleep

Dear Miriam,

I am writing to tell you about the success we have had with the Safe T Sleep we purchased from you about two months ago, and to thank you for developing such a simple but effective product. We decided to purchase a Safe T Sleep after reading an article in the Little Treasures magazine. We had had 16 months of broken sleep with a little boy who seemed to need a lot of reassurance during the night. It had finally come to the stage where Steven got out of his bed every night, seemingly still asleep, and cried at his bedroom door. We had tried endless nights of letting him cry, going to him, changing his diet etc to correct the situation, but to no avail.
When we got the Safe T Sleep we went cold turkey with it, strapping Steven into it the first night we received it, rather than going through a conditioning period. Steven seems to feel secure and comfortable with the Safe T Sleep. When he goes to bed each night he lies still to have it wrapped around him. This is our success story with a Safe T Sleep, we trust there will be many more.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mariam

Finally I got myself organised to write you this letter. As you know I was not very “pro” S.T.S. just because I thought, children would not have enough freedom, however when you explained about the benefits and what kind of accidents have happened with children falling out of cots and beds, that could have been prevented, I thought mmm, maybe I should give it a try. Because Yaap is already two and doesn’t like restrictions (restraints), I did not know if it would work. But I gave it a try and approached it very positively. So what I did: I put the STS on his mattress for a week, before I did something with it, so that he got used by the sight of it. Then one afternoon before he got to bed, I showed him that his “bed” was going to sleep in the STS. After an hour when it was Yaap’s “turn” to go to sleep I did the same thing to Yaap. And I fastened the STS very loosely. He wanted it undone and I just quickly said It’s ok and straight away distracted him with the musical mobile. He fell asleep and when he woke up I found him still fastened in the STS without complaints. This went on for several days and then we started using it at night. Now he is asking for it!!!
I am really pleased about the whole idea and how we got him to get used to it.
I don’t have to worry about Yaap falling out of a single bed when he is ready to be transferred. The other benefit is travelling, sometimes in Motels the cots are already  taken and he will be big for one now anyway (our cot is quite big). Going to friends etc just carry the STS, so easy.
Wonderful Mariam, well done. Good luck and hopefully you get more success stories.
Keep up the great work

Love Jose

Dear Miriam,

I am glad of the day I decided to try out your “Safe T Sleep”.  It has tremendously changed Paul’s (who is 15 months) restless sleeping habits for the better.  When Paul was about 9 months he started moving about more in his sleep.  He would get up on all fours, turn around to face the foot of the bed/cot, then plonk himself down and continued sleeping in that position.  At times he would wake up crying, because he had his foot or arm stuck between the cot rails or he had rolled over twice and had hit his head against the side of the cot.  Then about 10 to 11 months he would turn right around, a full circle, lying on his back, which resulted in being stuck at the width of the cot as he got a bit bigger.  These activities would cause him to wake up two to three times during the night.

“Safe T Sleep” has changed all that!  Now Paul sleeps soundly through the night, waking up once at times for a midnight feed as I am still breastfeeding.  He now moves comfortably from side to side without hitting the sides of the cot.  He doesn’t turn around anymore and he doesn’t get up on all fours during his sleep.

I can also see the advantages of using “Safe T Sleep” on a bed for toddlers.  It will most definitely stop them from falling off the bed, yet at the same time giving them ample movement to still be comfortable.  I would recommend this product to any mother who is thinking of putting their toddler in a bed and of course to mothers who have restless babies like I had.  I will most certainly continue to use “Safe T Sleep” to the next toddler stage for beds.

When I tuck Paul in at night, I leave with a secure feeling knowing that he is comfortable and safe – thanks to “Safe T Sleep”.

Wishing you every success.

Yours sincerely

To whom it may concern

I would like to order a Travel Sleep Wrap – please confirm that it goes from cot to king size bed in sizing – just want to make sure I am ordering the correct one.  I am in Cobram, Victoria 3644, Australia and would like a price in A$ please to have one sent to me.

I already have a Classic model I purchased 19 months ago for my little girl but it only goes up to a single bed size.  It has been an absolute blessing but now that you can get them to fit up to a king size we are interested in another one – not only for travel with out toddler but we have another baby on the way.

Thanks for such a fantastic product – I have recommended it to several of my friends who have since purchased one and they too are impressed.  I am not sure how anyone gets a toddler to sleep without one!!!!!!  My daughter is 19 months old and we have put her into a big girls bed well before the baby is due in early March so she wont have any resentment to the baby having her cot – without a Safe T Sleep I think we would have needed to buy another cot.  Thanks again for the best product I have ever invested in.

Hi Miriam,

Just wanted to thank you very much for the Safe T Sleep that you sent me for my son Luke.

It was very much appreciated.  He seems to be settling well after transferring him from bassinette to cot.

Thanks again.

Dear Safe T Sleep Suppliers

I am currently using a cot size Safe T Sleep – and wouldn’t be without it.
I would like to know the price of a bed size model as Courtney is 2 now and I think the transition to a bed would be easier with Safe T Sleep.
Thank you for a wonderful product: It really did solve all our sleepless nights.

Dear Miriam,

Thank you for inviting me to take part in your “Safe-T” Sleep survey.
Sarah was 9months old when I started using “Safe T” Sleep and was very unsettled at night, sometimes waking 6 or 7 times. After taking two days to get used to the product, I found she started to sleep longer and a lot sounder. She was unable to move up to the top of the cot and jam her head, or crawl out from under her covers and wake up freezing on top of them. I now find that if she wakes at all, it will only be one or two times a night!
I also have a 3 ½ year old son who, when first introduced to his big bed fell out quite regularly, sometimes bruising his head badly. I know that with using “Safe T” Sleep, this will not be a problem with Sarah.
Apart from helping to eliminate cot death in infants, I can see this product as a nursery necessity in many other ways.
Congratulations Miriam. I wish you every success with this product-I only wish it had been around when my other four children were babies.

Regards
Carol Ryan.

P.S. Thank heavens for mothers – without them what would other mothers do!!

LETTERS ____Sanity Saver

So simple yet effective, it should certainly be on the LIST of necessary equipment for babies. To those that don’t know, the NZ made Safe T Sleep is not only economical, portable and compact, it is a sanity saver.

My son (at six months) was always getting “stuck”, throwing off his blankets or playing when he was ment to be sleeping.
My first impression of the idea of the Safe T Sleep was that is was a “parents straight-jacket for babies” (realising of course that we strap our children into their carseats for safety)
For the first day or so my son didn’t like it but he soon learnt that cot-time was now sleeptime.

The beauty of the Safe T Sleep is that baby sleeps on their back and is secure and safe. My son used it until he was eighteen months old and now my daughter uses it and has been in a single bed since she was nine months old – with the wrap part firm around her middle and safety pinned.

This is a fantastic product, you can fold it up and take it with you in your nappy bag and simply put it on a singlebed wherever you may be and know baby is safe. I have recommended it to many people and I am extremely grateful to my sister for recommending it to me
